The British consultancy Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) recently published the 2020 update to QS World University Ranking. Using indexes such as number of citations, academic reputation and reputation of teachers, the ranking is published annually by the British. Here, you can meet the TOP 30 of the Best Universities in the World.
QS develops and successfully implements methods of comparative data collection and analysis used to highlight institutions’ strengths. Conducting its first industry-leading research in 1990 when it commissioned a global survey of MBA employers, the QS World University Rankings® launched in 2004 and is now the most established research project operated by the company.
The MIT received a No. 1 ranking in the following QS subject areas: Architecture/Built Environment; Chemistry; Computer Science and Information Systems; Chemical Engineering; Civil and Structural Engineering; Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Mechanical, Aeronautical and Manufacturing Engineering; Linguistics; Materials Science; Mathematics; Physics and Astronomy; and Statistics and Operational Research.
Top 30 Best Universities in the World:
The top 3 universities in this ranking are universities in the United States and 9 of the top 10 are universities in the United States or the United Kingdom. The exception is ETH Zurich – Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Switzerland.
Chinese programs haven’t seen any improvements in employability and employer reputation performance, but they’ve seen considerable improvement in research performance.
While there hasn’t been an increase in Chinese programs in the top 10 lists for the last five years, Mainland China did hit 100 top-50 programs for the first time this year.
Ben Sowter, QS Director of Research, states: “After five years of relentless improvement, our dataset has illuminated a slowdown in Chinese progress. However, their trajectory is still superior to that of American universities. We also find that Brexit does not yet appear to have jeopardized the research performance of British universities.”
